Antonio Smith



Antonio Smith is a native of Columbus, Ohio who grew up in the Linden area. Antonio graduated from Beechcroft High School and pursued further education at The Ohio State University. While attending OSU, Antonio challenged himself by majoring in mechanical engineering and playing football for the Buckeyes. During his tenure, Smith excelled in both academics and athletics. Academically, Antonio graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2007. Antonio also was honored as being an Academic All-Big Ten recipient, OSU Scholar-Athlete recipient, and member of the Dean's List.

Athletically, Antonio Smith displayed tremendous hard work and dedication, which propelled Antonio from an original walk-on to the 2002 National Championship team, to a full athletic scholarship impact defensive player for the 2006 Buckeye team, which also went to the National Championship. During his senior season, Antonio was awarded First-Team All-Big Ten, semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, and received the Most Inspirational Player award, voted by his teammates. Smith then took advantage of advancing his athletic ability to its highest level in becoming a player in the National Football League for the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals.

In addition to the academic and athletic accolades, Antonio Smith has a passion of giving back. Prior to entering the NFL, Smith established a scholarship award, in his name, at his former high school. The award was created to encourage student athletes to pursue a college education. Smith also volunteers countless hours to local elementary, middle and high schools, giving his testimony and challenging students to pursue their goals.

In lieu of the efforts already committed by Smith to his community, Antonio and former teammate Roy Hall have established The DRIVEN Foundation.  This non-profit organization is committed to enhancing the communities throughout Central Ohio and surrounding areas through an array of programs directed toward youth and underprivileged families.
